We’ve been using our Nakie hammock for almost 2 years now and can’t even count on how many places we’ve been hanging in it under the shade of trees. Having a hammock is something that really helps us to find moments of tranquility in today’s fast paced world, so whether you decide for the one from Nakie or from a different brand, we highly recommend it.
Now grab a cup of coffee as it’s time to go over pros and cons and answer all questions you might have about Nakie hammocks in this detailed review.
Disclosure: We got our hammock gifted from Nakie as a part of social media collaboration, however all words and opinions in this article are our own.

If you’re just starting to shop around for a new hammock, then you might feel that the one from Nakie comes with a rather higher price tag. It’s true that you can find hammocks for a fraction of this price on Amazon and honestly, if you plan to use it a few times a year, it might just be all you need.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a hammock for frequent use, which is made from durable material and by a brand that keeps our planet in mind, then Nakie is 100% worth the investment. Each of their hammock is made from 37 post consumer plastic bottles that are pulled form landfill and they also plant 4 trees for every product sold in their reserve in Madagascar.

IS NAKIE HAMMOCK EASY TO SET UP?
Yes, Nakie hammocks are super easy to put up as the only thing you need to do is to wrap the straps around two trees and clip the hammock between them. The straps are adjustable and have 12 different loops that you can clip the hammock into, so you’re not that limited when looking for the trees. They can be anywhere from 2.5 meters – 4.5 meters from each other.
Nakie states that it takes maximum 60 seconds to set it up and I’d say, that’s probably possible with a bit of a practice, but keep in mind that it might take some time to find the right trees. You can have a look on this demonstrative video.
IS NAKIE HAMMOCK COMFORTABLE FOR TWO PEOPLE?
Nakie is a double hammock, so it’s actually made for two people. In fact, we find it less comfortable for one person, because the hammock is big and it kind of wraps around you if you use it alone. It doesn’t necessarily mean it will bother you, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re looking for something just for yourself.

IS NAKIE HAMMOCK GOOD FOR BACKCOUNTRY CAMPING?
Well, that depends on if you’re willing to carry almost 1 kg of extra weight on your back. It’s relatively lightweight when compared to similar hammocks, but is it light enough for backpacking? We’d say, it’s worth it for shorter trips when you don’t need to carry that much food or don’t do that many kilometers. Otherwise consider something more lightweight, but note that those hammocks come with even higher price.
We’ve never tried to sleep in it and even though we find it very comfortable, we don’t think it would be good for a full night sleep. There are different hammocks out there specifically designed for sleeping if your plan is to use it instead of a tent. Plus you’d need an individual one rather than a double hammock.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER
One thing that we would personally change is that the straps now come in a separate sacks which means there is a chance you take the hammock and forget the straps at home (talking from an experience lol).
It’s not something that can’t be fixed though. You can clip those two sacks together to make it fool-proof.
