Hi! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! We’re Jana & Matej – Czechoslovak couple with a passion for hiking, photography & adventure travel based in beautiful Banff NP, Alberta, Canada.

Both coming from small towns in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it wasn’t until our adulthood that we started exploring the world and hiking big mountains! So how did it all begin then?

We both first started travelling as university students when we figured that summer school breaks could be a great opportunity to combine travel and work. Seasonal jobs in hospitality allowed us to spend 3-4 months in foreign countries while earning some money to cover the expenses. That’s how we spend a couple of seasons in the USA, Iceland, Norway or Lofoten Islands!

It was during our second summer in the States in 2017 that our paths crossed when we chose the same employer for a summer job in McCarthy, Alaska. Surrounded by the beautiful nature of remote Alaska’s wilderness, our time in McCarthy turned out to be a summer of a lifetime that has shaped our passion for the outdoors – full of hiking, glaciers, evenings by the fire or river rafting. By the end of it, we knew we couldn’t be without each other. How convenient that our hometowns back in Europe are less than 2 hours from each other accross the borders of the Czech Republic and Slovakia!
